Revenue & Profit Growth
Point of sale display manufacturing business
A group of investors acquired a well-established retail display design, manufacture, and installation business with over 60 years of experience. Renowned for its quality, the company had a loyal customer base and consistent orders. The business primarily relied on the retail sector, specialising in greeting card display systems, and employed around 56 staff, most of whom were weekly paid production employees.
However, the new shareholders were dissatisfied with the financial performance. Despite a reasonable order book, the business had not met their expectations, with turnover dropping to £4 million (from a £6 million run rate) and profits falling short of projections.
After an analysis of the business and private face-to-face discussions with key members of the team I was able to identify the problems and create a clear plan to resolve:

Key Challenges:
- Team underperformance in a toxic working environment
- Lacking sales growth (stagnation)
- Business was loss-making
- Lacked a defined strategy & vision
- Management stuck in a ‘firefighting’ cycle
- Cashflow challenges
Actions taken:
- Strengthened organisational structure
- Improved company communication, morale and team performance
- Built financial stability (overhead reductions)
- Creation of strategy, vision and sales plan
- Organisational restructure & creation of leadership team
- Coaching and mentoring of Managing Director
- Goal setting and accountability
- Communications for improved engagement
