6. Strengthening Your Brand

Written  by P Griffin April 2025

A strong brand isn’t just a logo or colour scheme—it’s how people feel about your business.

Customers choose brands they trust. Employees stay with brands they believe in. Investors back brands they respect.

So ask yourself: Does your brand truly reflect your values, expertise, and ambitions? If not, here’s how to refresh and strengthen it:

✔️ Clarify your message—Is it clear, compelling, and consistent?

✔️ Elevate the experience—Does every customer interaction reflect your brand promise?
✔️ Live your values—Is your brand more than just words?

Marketing expert and author Seth Godin said “A brand is the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer’s decision to choose one product or service over another.”

Consider Apple, for example. They've built a powerful brand around innovation, simplicity, and user-friendly design. Apple customers aren't just buying tech products; they're buying into a lifestyle and a set of values.

Similarly, Nike has created a brand synonymous with athleticism, determination, and high performance. Their marketing campaigns feature athletes achieving greatness, inspiring customers to push their own limits.

Your brand or business may not be a global brand at the level of Apple or Nike, but the same rules apply to building brands more locally.  Strong brands have a voice, feel and set of values that loyal customers buy into and willingly shout about.   It is so much more than a 'great looking logo', which was simply put by Jeff Bezos when he said  “Your brand is what other people say about you when you're not in the room.”

Strengthening your brand is an ongoing process, requiring dedication, creativity, and a deep understanding of your target audience.
